We appealed to you our members to donate and help fund tickets for children, accompanied by adults, to attend a Blues Home game.
We were overwhelmed with offers other than donations.
We managed to take kids to games they would not have otherwise been able to go to.
We even managed to take a family of 4 into hospitality, were their dream came true.
Meeting players as well as the owners.
This was a fantastic programme were we appealed for outgrown children's kits and even funded some new kits for our kids, who would not have been able otherwise.
Our vision on this came after we did our Games for Kids programme. We thought it was all well and done sending them to a match, but they may feel a little isolated not wearing a kit the same as the majority of other kids. So when they attended the game we ensured they were kitted out.
We discussed and decided, it all well and done helping the kids, but what about the elderly in our community, who could hardly afford to heat their homes.
So we put together a package including hot water bottles, warm clothing and everyday essentials to give them a little help.
But you our members kept giving and we were able to go the extra mile by offering a voucher for a meal for two at a local restaurant. The joy on their faces made us even more determined
This is a biggy for us, because we understand the devastating effects mental heath can have on people.
So we pioneered a programme were we would encourage members with mental health problems to come on and discuss their issues and coping mechanisms live on Facebook.
We know speaking out is a massive comfort in helping themselves and others.
The response has been phenomenal and we feel we have achieved so much from the brave people who offered to help, from drug addicts, alcoholics to young brave souls.
It has helped so many, but we know with the right funding we can do so much more.
We will continue our efforts in raising the funds and offering a small slice of comfort to people with mental health issues, knowing they are not alone.
